the fun doesn't stop

like, really.. it just doesn't :(

Monday morning I did my daily walk.. then went to a local apartment complex to look for more empty boxes (it was supposed to start raining that afternoon and I wanted to grab as many 'pre-mush' boxes as possible).  while out searching, the realtor called, she said that escrow had questions - so I rushed home to find the phone number. called them for wire instructions as there was a problem with my GFE deposit - rushed to credit union to wire it out. I missed 10:30 deadline, so had to settle for next-day funds. got back home and emailed title that wire was requested - was after deadline so would be effective the following day.
Tuesday afternoon, realtor called again that title was still waiting on closing documents from finance. called finance to find out they are waiting for corrected documents from title.  :P  title also had 2 other documents we needed to sign/initial.. and an extension form - now we won't be able to close by the 19th.. hoping for 29th..
we planned to be in by this weekend for some quick repairs, and do the full move-in on Christmas weekend.. now we hope to be out before New Year so we don't have to pay another month of rent.

oh the stress..
there is a possibility (with luck) that we can close by 22nd, and still be in for Christmas - that just leaves us little-to-no time for repairs before move-in.

received an email yesterday on an accounting assistant position I applied for in Valencia - they opted to go with an internal candidate.

today is my deadline to send my transcript for the office secretary position at CoC. haven't received in the mail yet.. *hopefully* it arrives with today's mail, and I can quickly scan it & email it to her. Otherwise, I'm out.. Hart High will be the only option at this point.

I will reapply with companies in the new year. once I'm in Frazier Park and have more time on my hands. when we first move, I'll be unpacking, settling, acclimating. all the critters will be freaked for the first few days, possibly the first couple weeks. I can start doing outside trips for couple minutes.. then an hour or 2. don't want to leave for 10 hours.. at least not right away.

scads of paperwork

boy.. will this paperwork ever end?
we've done 2 more stacks of paperwork.. not even sure what it all is.
the appraisal came in right at our purchase price (A*W*E*S*O*M*E!)
so far, we're still on track.
got the insurance quote yesterday.
we will start moving some items up to a friend's house, store it in their shed.
we expect the big move to start Christmas morning.. through to the weekend (until Saturday hopefully).
the packing started Monday.. cleared out the bathroom.
Tuesday, started cleaning out kitchen cabinets. (still more to go)
today will be ALL DAY packing.
gotta keep busy.. Christmas is only 2 weeks away (O!H! B!O!Y!) :O

have put job-hunting on hold.
once we move, I need a week to stay with the critters. so they don't flip out in a new place.
then I can continue looking in Santa Clarita/Valencia.
already have an application in at Hart High & CoC
CoC requires a college transcript showing my AS - - waiting for that to arrive from ITT.

O.K. been a month now :(

oh what an update I have. we found a house. 'ages' ago. we had seen it on a Saturday, 1st day.. emailed Stacey right away, called Stacey, called Stacey's assistant. Sunday we drove out and looked at it at 9am. 3 bed, 2 bath, huge living room, huge kitchen, awesome garage (with a loft!), decent sized yard.  listed at $134,900
we went back to Stacey's office to fill out our offer. that in itself took hours as well. lots of paperwork goes into an REO property, bank-owned property.  offered $130,000
Monday waited, Tuesday waited.. then find out it has to be on the market for 5 days first before we can submit an offer. waited 3 more days, then Stacey resubmitted our offer.
then we had paperwork.. and more paperwork.. and more paperwork.
we did our inspections Monday (yesterday). home inspection, & termite inspection.
escrow started December 1st (yesterday).
when filing the offer, we requested November 28th as finance deadline.. and we requested December 19th as close of escrow.. we also requested termite and septic covered by seller (bank). when offer was accepted they denied our request for termite and septic, and adjusted finance deadline to December 19th (same day as close of escrow).
now we wait.

NOTHING new on the job market - zero still.
applied to more positions, no luck as yet.
keep ya posted..

okay - so I've only missed ONE week..

Life is just 'go-go-go'
between house hunting.. job hunting.. keeping up with my Avon.. I'm busy busy busy
but what do I have to show for it ???
not a whole lot

we looked at more houses on October 25.. some we'd seen online but wanted to see inside..
2 we hadn't seen before, and didn't know about..

1 of those.. 3 bedroom.. 1 bathroom.. good kitchen.. great yard - plus a separate open lot in back. it's been a rental & the owner has gotten frustrated with tenants.. the last 3 tenants were evicted.
we offered based on the tax assessment.. the owner wasn't having it.. he wants to keep renting it out-  okay.. that's your choice.

we considered going for another house. we'd seen it prior. little cozy place - 2 bedroom/1bathroom. 1/2 acre land (comes with a tractor!)  dirt road in and out (including uphill driveway).  we could even enlarge the house - a little in front, a little to the side, a little to the back.

another house we saw was in perfect condition. no repairs necessary. big front room. big master bedroom. 2nd bedroom.. 2 bathrooms.. open kitchen.. open view of mountains, not a busy street (dirt road again)
not much yard & no garage..
this seemed to be the house SHE wanted us to buy.

after being turned down on the rental, we decided on the tractor house.. that was the one we mentioned with her. we planned out our own changes to make over time..
she emailed a little while later for an offer on the 'perfect condition' house. we researched the houses in the neighborhood. we looked up tax assessment value, and Zillow-website property value -- based our offer off of that. they acted like we majorly insulted them.  they countered only $1000 from their list price and stated the wood-burning stove would probably be removed (thereby making the house even less valuable to us.. the wood-burning stove was the best part of that house)
we told her no - not interested.

back to zero again.

on the job market - zero luck still. applied to several more positions over the last 2 weeks, my options are thinning out.
drove up to Valencia/Santa Clarita/Newhall.. drove thru the industrial centers, business centers.. came home with company names, looked on company websites.. no luck
drove back again the next day, writing down more company names.. looked on more company websites.. still no luck.
Bakersfield was my next choice.. not really likin' my options..

not one interview - still.. someday soon (hopefully). if I find a job beginning December, my insurance benefits kick in beginning March. my old benefits end beginning March and the new can take over..

if I don't find a new job beginning December, my insurance benefits will end beginning March, and I'll be uninsured - that leaves me with expensive COBRA or expensive CALIFORNIA CARE..

choices.. choices..

geeze.. what have I done

what HAVEN'T I done?
well.. for one thing, I haven't posted all October (bad me!!)

so the first weekend of October was Faeriefest in Solvang.. didn't make it to Faeriefest although we were really looking forward to it.  drove up to Lake Cachuma Saturday morning, took a while to get on the road.. then once we did, we took a wrong turn at Lake Casitas.  20 minutes off course, 20 minutes to get back on track.. once we got to camp - unpacked and got settled in - we didn't want to pack up to leave again to go to Faeriefest..
Sunday, had a simple breakfast.. then off we went to Solvang.. walked around, stretched our legs, got exercise. our go-to restaurant ended up NOT being dog-friendly :P so we chose elsewhere.  a lot of places up there are dog-friendly so it all worked out okay. we definitely got our exercise. Nona definitely got her exercise.. back to camp to relax and chill out. Nona took the best nap of her life :D
then we found a little itty-bitty. Ron saw him first.. wandering the roadway at camp. I saw him walking on the road, then he lay down in the shade (still in the street).. I walked over towards him.. he watched me, but didn't move. I crouched down and he came running, tail wagging, huge smile on his little face. we nicknamed him "Muttly". Nona loved him, and he totally respected her.. they were little buds. he was a nibbler, but was fine on a little cable-line.. we called the camp-ranger to let them know we'd found a little dog. about an hour later, a little boy came around looking.. "Muttly's" really name was Toby. they were frantic to find him - no sooner did the little boy taking him back to camp, then they packed up and left..
later that evening, we decorated our jack-o'lanterns.. that was LOADS of fun! can't wait to decorate another one again this weekend..
Monday, quick breakfast yet again.. than pack up and come home.. such a fun vacation, but it was over way too quickly.

when we got home, Mike came over to hang out, talk about his house-hunting/house-buying..
Tuesday, I did all the laundry and unpacking from camping. back to the normal daily grind..
       Wednesday..
       Thursday..
       Friday..
Saturday, I had my walk in Santa Clarita for the 'Walk to Stop Diabetes'.. came home recovered from that, then to Lemon park for Relay for Life..
Sunday - chill out day !! I live for those
        Monday..
        Tuesday..
        Wednesday..
        Thursday..
        Friday..
Saturday, run at Simi Town Center for ToothFairy 10K.. was supposed to go to houseparty at 3 for 'thirty-one'.. I was so worn out, too exhausted from my 10K.
Sunday was another laid back day - brunch at El Torito.. then the movie Fury at Regal theaters..

time is flying.. the house hunt changes day to day.
our dream house had been taken off the market.. we found another we liked - a mobile.. but then realized it wasn't much room for us.. same as living here, and still no garage space.
we found another bigger mobile - still requiring lots of work to be more comfortable.. and close to Mike & Ana's expected house. they are already in escrow with their awesome house.. we - not so much.
we then found another optional house - not a mobile, still no garage, but awesome yard with tons of potential. also a fcl like the 2nd mobile we planned on.
yesterday we discovered that fcl house & original mobile are both sold.. with no response from the realtor.
our 2nd mobile is still an option.. but haven't been able to see the inside.  Sunday evening I found another house, block away from dream home, with a garage, & only a little bit bigger than this house we're in now. we could buy that house outright - no mortgage, no monthly payments other than insurance & utilities. but, again, no response from the realtor.

this is where we're at now.. Ron has not been feeling 100% since Saturday.  last night, at the neighbor's house, he discovered his blood pressure is off the charts.. 180/100.. not cool!
we went to Walgreens for a blood pressure monitor.. he tested again. a little bit better.. but, life is getting too stressful - me not working is a BIG factor in that.  I wonder if house hunting is not a good plan right now.
this next dream house - with no need for mortgage payment.. we could forgo the 60 mile commute and leave our jobs.. but that's a big difference in life..
no job, no insurance?
little job, no insurance?
30 mile commute to working closer?
we shall see what happens next ...
