I have a dream...
And I so wish I was independently wealthy to follow thru with that dream..
I worked at a dog kennel... funnest job I've had yet... but also very stressful. There's lots of work to be done in dog-care. When I moved back to Simi, I had seriously considered opening a rescue kennel... as an alternative to my 'dog-job'. I would take in strays and fosters... acclimate them to domestic living.. and find them new happy homes... a little at a time for lotsa love. The timing wasn't right I suppose and plans just fell thru.
Then last year and the year before, I fostered cats.. First 2 were failures but last 2 were succesful. I got 2 little tuxedo-babies... 1 boy 1 girl... looked like they could have been my Jessie-cat's babies. I found them happy homes with loving, doting parents. Aside from our own farm of house-pets... the nest is empty again.
Helping a friend find an English-Bull puppy, I've come across so many ads... cats/kittens/dogs/puppies/ducks/chickens looking for homes... I so wish I could take them all in... give them a 2nd chance at life... give them that extra time to find a new home, time they wouldn't find in a shelter. rescues are overcrowded and some can't take in anymore babies til they find homes for the ones they've got.
The way the economy is these days, so many people are faced with giving up their pets to move back in with relatives, or have to move to NON-pet-friendly places to live. I don't want to face that same fate of giving up my Whinona-hound... or Jessie-cat... or Lillie-chicken. I want to have a house with a yard! ...where they can be free to run, have friends, and just enjoy life!
I want to help the helpless of this world!!
Tell me how I can fulfill this dream!!

CHRISTMAS!
I know I am so bad at keeping this thing up to date. =P There really isn't news for me/us. Life is still peachy with it's bumps and bruises. Work is the big bruise (or is that a bump??) I hate my job and have no clue where it's headed. I'm job-hunting with no results... but I could just stick it out and no leave. Which means commuting to LA (possibly moving closer to LA). My baby is in SF Valley, so moving closer that direction might be good.
We came to Big Bear City for Christmas... the actual White Christmas that we haven't had. No chains needed on the way up, but it was a blinding trip. Wind made vision impossible so I had to take several random stops to prevent going off-roading in my "on-road only" vehicle. We drive back home tomorrow to our real lives. He doesn't work until the 5th, but I only had this weekend off. Back to reality for me!!

Saw V
Okay... so I saw SAW V yesterday... was different than I expected. I never saw I-IV so I didn't know what to expect. I think I can totally handle I-IV no problem.
Yesterday was a rather gory day. =) We saw SAW, then came home and I watched JURASSIC PARK II, then SHOOT 'EM UP, then BLOOD DIAMOND.. like I said, gory day. =D
Let's see... Saturday was rainy... so I got my first kiss in the rain. (finally!) The rain was fun, even if it was only on my balcony. Ran a few errands, basically a do-nothing day.

alright... so it's been 2 weeks now...
well.. i'm on vacation (again). didn't go anywhere.
heard back on the prop-claims interview-- didnt get it.
heard back on the non-imp interview-- didn't get it.
she's submitting me on another prop-claims position... er... well...
there will be a new position up for review.. if it 'passes' then she'll submit me.
mum is still freaked out about my living sitch.. but that's life i suppose..
no other news on my work stuff. i have no other interviews or job offers lined up. I submitted on 2 bookkeeping jobs on craigslist.. now just waiting for someone to notice me.
our new baby lilli is fun! she screams if we're home but leave the room.
she screams if she's outside her cage but not ON you. that's when we hear all her sounds.
she peeps, she cat-calls, she giggle...
she chuckles, she awww's, she hello's...
she sounds like a cell phone, she sounds like a dinaosaur,
she sounds like a hawk, she sounds like a smoke detector,
she has attacked the dog, she has attacked the cat..
she has even had a face-off with the cat.
she is so sure she's invincible, but obviously we know she is not.

A-Ha!!
Okay... so few days later... work always irritates me, they try my patience...
Last week, the lug-nut was taking his "dr's note" to the max... he called sick, Thursday and today. Friday he was at work... but do didn't anything.
So, since he wasn't there today, that messed up the 'plan' of the day. I do pymt window mornings... lug-nut should do afternoons. but since he wasn't there, mark had to do afternoons... THEN mark's lunch break is 3, and i'd be covering him... so the boss changed my schedule.. now i do afternoons, which means no 8-5 schedule.. and Thursday is the 16, so that's 10-7... i hate that schedule. tomorrow i'm talkin to the boss cuz i want the 8-5 schedule (actually want the 7-4)... wednesday and thursday i 'need' to be out by 5.
today we left work at 4:00 cuz of the wildfires... there are always wildfires... BUT ronnie had to take the 101-23-olsen to come home. tomorrow, i gotta check street routes and freeway routes to be sure we can get to work... i'm only 3 miles away, but ronnie's gotta go thru the fire (not possible to go 'THRU'...). i hope that we get outta work early again... cuz my day is 9-6. =P
now whinona and lilli are best buds... well, they're not bitter enemies... just gotta keep an eye on that pussy-cat jessi... she tries to act innocent but i know her hunting insticts will always take over.

wow!
okay... so Monday, June 26th (posted July 9th)... of 2006... I think I'm a little slow these day... I do have another blog.. These previous postings came from my myspace blog (myspace.com/hubina). I have a new myspace now (myspace.com/mona_moonshyn). There are some more recent posts on there.
so now for the news.. let's see.. i quit job 2 December 31st, 2007. that's the day i just stopped going back. i would only work 1 or 2 Saturdays a month... and that would end up being about 5 minutes (so not worth it at $9/hour). the final straw wasn't the lack of work.. it was the surroundings... the atmosphere. i loved every dog there... and it was illegal (not to love them, obviously)... but they have a breeders license to own 7 dogs.. yippee, except there were over 47... and we were paid under the table so.. not entirely legal, right? then i was helping her hubbie run HIS business... an eBay business reselling stolen goods (didn't know that at the time... not til later did I figure things out). he quit that business because problems kept happening (duh!!) his stolen stuff, the new people would try to register it, and it came up as stolen... looked bad on them, when it was really HIS fault...
and i got in trouble with his business.. he gave me a credit card as payment... the ones that are temporary and don't have your name on them yet. he said to take myself on a shopping spree... well it was stolen mail, not his credit card, so not his credit.. that came back on me, when the lady declined the transaction...
then back to those poor doggies i loved so much. she was only legally allowed to have 7, she had 47, how can you possibly handle 47?? this dog fought that dog, another dog died in child birth, one died just after child birth, another dog killed another dog.... not the atmosphere that an animal lover wants. someone in it for the money won't care as much, they just hate the money lost... but an animal lover?? they hate the lives that were lost... that's a true animal lover.
job 1 (again in order of liking, not order of getting)... i'm being transferred to LA next October... so now i'm trying to find a new job to stay in simi.. my man of over a year now, he lives here, he works here, it's too inconvenient for me to be so far away... just not possible. my life is here, our 'babies' are here... uh-uh, ain't gonna do it...
so wish me luck on my interviews and things... i'm gonna need it...
i'll keep you posted...

Monday, June 26, 2006hey guys, I realize it's been ages since i last wrote... oh, where to begin?? I still work both jobs, still love both jobs... well, one of 'em anyway. Job #2.. lot's happened since I last wrote. there have been dog fights, puppy births, puppy deaths. guess it comes with the territory in the animal world. to start off, one owner brought their dog back. they bought him at 8 weeks old, a beautiful male white lab. they brought him back at 10 mnths old because he was a behavioural nightmare, so they said. They had no time for him, he was over-running the back yard and eating everything in sight... a renter's nightmare (I'll vouch for that). So they brought him back. He loved to jump, very hyper... within a few hours, he was an angel. doesn't like to be locked up though. He'll cry for hours... driving you insane. he's not fixed so he searches out any "eligible" female (female DOG that is) on the property. A few have stood their ground with him, and fought back, so he's got the battle scars to prove it. About a week ago... one "girl" finally had enough of him. He sniffed... she snapped.... 3 other males jumped in to defend her... he doesn't defend himself so they just let him have it. 2 major puncture wounds under his right front leg. the owners were away for the night, so me and another girl were the ones who got to stitch him up. he was allowed to roam free the next few days but it later got infected so now he has 3 tubes in his leg... and is confined to a metal cage... poor thing. he's a real sweet heart too...
another behavioral case. they had him for 2 years, he was abused before. never really an agressive dog... but he'd get moody at times. then he'd pick on some dogs and get them angry... not a good plan when you've got 7 males looking for a reason to fight... they'd finally had enough of the 80-lb boy when he jumped on their 11 year old daughter... she doesn't have a scratch on her, but they didn't want to take that chance again... he's just too big and too active...next case... there are puppies coming and going from that place... all whites, yellows, and reds. we've been waiting for blacks and chocolates... a chocolate female was finally pregnant.
then she got sick
. We didn't know if it was allergies or morning sickness (do doggies get morning sickness??) She was usually a pretty active girl. Then she slowly started lying around more, real lethargic... but she'd come over to nuzzle your chest, and receive all the head pats she could. the kennel she was in was with 3 other highly active dogs, so we moved her up to the main house where she could get more peace and quiet. that's when it happened... she miscarried
. you could tell her poor heart was broken, she actually cried real tears...many doggies have been sold as well. they are just realizing that there are so many dogs there... and to have a proper kennel, they need to have their own "look". so they are weeding out the dogs that don't have that look... one poor girl has been homebound 3 times. she was brought back twice, then the 3rd family cancelled when they were on their way to come get her. She is such a sweet girl. 6 month old red named Freddie. 1st 2 people brought her back for medical reasons... both thought she had a tumor (
). First one was a swollen ear turned out to be an ear infection cuz her ears were all dirty. Second was a swollen shoulder turned out to be a bruise... over time both healed up and she's just as good as ever. another family came to buy a chocolate male. they had a choice between Bosco... who lives to swim... and Sancho who lives to swim and play ball (sometimes both at the same time). They opted for Sancho... my favorite boy there... oh, how I'll miss him... 2 families have brought their white female lab puppies back. one realized that they just don't have the time or patience for a puppy. the other... didn't know how to handle a puppy. they brought her back for being to aggressive and ferocious... she is now terrified of feet, and anything bigger than her... which is pretty much the whole entire world...there is another litter of 8 yellows, a litter of 6 whites (1 of which I helped deliver
), a litter of whites due any day, a litter of chocolates due in 2 weeks (she was a surprise pregnancy... we thought it didn't take), and two litters due end of July... expected to be a mix of blacks and chocolates...Now job #1 (notice how I go in order of how I like 'em, not how I got 'em)... my supervisor transferred out beginning of June. My new supervisor is okay... no problems there... I don't bother her, she doesn't bother me... They have made several more changes in the department as far as tasks required, quotas to be met... It affects what pay you get... everyone was meeting & exceeding the standards so they had to make some changes... now it seems no one will every meet... We used to get raises once year...then 2006 that changed to once quarter... that is also dependent om those standards. I think I'll do okay... there are some areas that are high enough to help me out... the "high" far outweigh the "low" so I'm not worried. Think that's all the news there. I have been around reading, just not much on writing... until now
Oh, and C.S. still rocks my world... nothing new there
and I got my belly-button pierced last weekend. We both love it, but I'm still adjusting to wearing "lo-rider" pants until I heal and my pain tolerance is back to normal...

| ...reality check...Well things with C.S. are a bit different... he told me, although things haven't changed, we came to an understanding... things with us are the same, but we are "just friends". it doesn't change how much i love him, but he still doesn't love me... things are the same they've always been all these years... |

| ...and as a further update... C.S. and I are not fighting. I'm still happy as ever, it was just more of a reality to me. I saw him Tuesday night and he's called me twice today... so I know there isn't anything wrong. I know how busy he is, and how focused he is on work. He's told me millions of times that he can't focus on a relationship for about 2 years because it wouldn't be fair. He's on-call 24/7 at work and doesn't want to jeopardize anything (business or social) so he's kinda keeping things at arms-length. we are still very happy (I know, I already said that) so I'm not worried at all. I've been on vacation from work for a week now. Friday morning I worked one job, then I left Friday afternoon and spent the weekend at my parents' house. Monday morning (4am) I drove home. The family doesn't know I'm on vacation so I have to keep up this facade that I'm still a busy bee working 2 jobs all week long. All the while, I've been sleeping and swimming the week away. Tomorrow afternoon I go back to work. And although my week has been very hot, and very boring. I'm dreading going back to work... But reality must sink in eventually. I had let my natural brown hair grow back but with all the sun and swimming my hair is getting blond again. It actually looks good so I don't mind. My hair has been so many colors that people don't believe the brown was my real color. My original goal was to keep the brown and add blond streaks... but that plan didn't work. The whole top just turned blond... so much for doing it myself. Guess you gotta pay an arm and a leg with the professionals to get what you really want, right? and I've seen 4 movies this week. X-men-- loved it!! Cars-- definitely loved it!! Garfield-- very cute. Nacho Libre-- very, very cute. I definitely recommend 'em all. |

| Happy 4th of July!!
The family that got Sancho... okay, here's their story. They bought 2 labradors from SusanaLabs. The dogs grew up and they discovered that one of them had hip displasia (like having a dislocated hip). It requires a very expensive surgery. The pupps are always guaranteed. Any problems like that come up, she'll either return the money or replace the dog. They family opted for a replacement, so they took Sancho. I came back from vacation, and Sancho is back... along with the other dog that the family had. Now I'm not quite sure why, but there is a puppy there for boarding and he is separated from the other dogs. Sancho and "red dog" are not... so, I think they are back to stay... I'll have to wait until the "holidays" are over to see who stays and who goes. Okay, the other puppy (boarder). He is just adorable!! His name is Sampson. He's got the cutest face, cutest expression. But he's a submissive urinator... so he's always getting into trouble... otherwise he'd be such a pampered pooch!! Then, Sonny... he was the 'beaten-up' dog. He's much better now. All healed up, no more drugs. Another family had returned a dog (like Sonny, but different mommy & daddy) like an identical twin though. He was a major disaster case... but unlike Sonny, HE'S the problem dog. He is/was very aggressive and tried to attack 3 people there. The "guy" owner of the place was the only one he trusted. Well, in the end, the "guy" owner was the one he attacked and bit. The people who returned him, they returned him because he bit the dad and drew blood. Only after the fact did the family admit they worried he might have rabies. Well, they tested and he didn't, but it is too risky to rehabilitate and rehome him. You can't get close enough to train him... how can you rehabilitate??? Well, that's it. My 4th of July was okay. My sis, my niece, and I went to another house up the street... so happens to be our other sister's in-law's. We went there for food and fireworks. Fun Times!! Oh, and I'm doing book keeping at the dog place. Wonderful stuff. There were some problems with the program so I had to start over from scratch... two weeks of work down the drain... but I got back on track in 2 days... Go Me!!! Okay, good nite! See ya!! |
